Eating a large amount of food until you are uncomfortably full in a short amount of time is considered binge eating. After that people usually feel ashamed, unworthy as if they had done something terrible. And usually people are not really hungry at the first place but it seems impossible to stop eating or controlling yourself when the binge eating kicks in. As a result you might gain weight which just adds up to your frustration.
I guess most of us have done that at some point of their lives. Here is what is happening now. The United States food and drug administration (FDA) recently approved lisdexamfetamine dimesylate – that’s a drug – to treat moderate to severe binge eating disorder in adults. This is a first-of-its-kind prescription drug specifically indicated for binge eating disorder.
Now if you are a drug company you love this because this is gonna make you a lot of money. You don't really want people to heal because if they do they will not take your drug any more, they are not hooked and you will not get cash flowing in all the time.
Once the medical profession classifies something as a disease or a disorder the big money comes in. Now here you have a drug that is designed to "help" but it also has a long list of side effects that will push you even deeper down into the medical model.
Here is what I want to tell you. Binge eating is not a deficiency of lisdexamfetamine dimesylate - the pill they are trying to push on you. Binge eating is a behavior that is a clear symptom pointing to something deeper that has an important lesson to teach you. And when you learn this lesson the binge eating goes away on its own.
Normally it points out to a nutritional or emotional reason that you need to address and instead of calling it a disorder which pathologizes you, you should look at it as a beautiful life lesson that you need to learn. There is mostly an area in your life that you need to look at and change - it could be work, your personal life, previous history of sexual abuse or trauma, you might have questions like who am I, why am I here, what is the purpose of my life, why can't I be happy etc. These are questions that you need to address and find the answer. The symptom of binge eating in a way brings your attention and helps you learn, grow, and evolve as a human being.
So instead of medicating it which will never help anyway, just rise to the occasion, face your life challenges and become the person you need to be.
There is nothing more powerful and beautiful than that.
Here at the Super Body Elite Coaching program we go deeper into these questions and help women to find the real reasons and causes of that behavior, to meet their true selves, to learn, grow and evolve into stronger, confident and empowered women.
